Norman Palace, Palermo
Admire one of the finest examples of Arab-Norman art in the modern city of Palermo at Norman Palace. Originally the seat of the kings of Sicily, the 12th-century palace now houses Sicily's seat of the regional parliament. It features a mix of Byzantine, medieval, and Arabic-influenced architecture and decor. Visit the mosaic-covered interior of the Palentine Chapel. At the palace, note the animal motifs that adorn the walls. One ticket includes admission to both palace and chapel. Precious!
Beautiful grounds where Norman Palace is set. We only went to see the royal gardens as most of the apartments inside the palace were not open. It was a lovely sunny day.
The garden are very small but nicely decorated. The apartment area of the royal castle is not big but rich of precious Chinese vases and nice frescos. The most beautiful place is the Palatin Chapel that can leave you without breath for the magnificence and for the beauty on the smallest detail. You can appreciate the mixture of the oriental and occidental cultures.
