Reykjavik, the world's most northerly capital, effortlessly combines small-town charm with heaps of big city energy.
Do your shopping at Laugavegur and Kogga - Ceramic Studio - Gallery. Popular historic sites such as Hallgrimskirkja and Landnámssýningin/The Settlement Exhibition are in your itinerary. Change things up with a short trip to Thingvellir National Park in Thingvellir (about 38 minutes away). There's much more to do: take an in-depth tour of National Museum of Iceland, steep yourself in history at Einar Jonsson Museum (Listasafn Einars Jonssonar), relax and rejuvenate at some of the top local wellness centers, and look for all kinds of wild species at Wildlife Areas.

Iceland's southernmost village, Vik, sports some of the country's wildest and most dramatic coastline.
You'll enjoy a bit of beach vacationing at Black Sand Beach and Reynisfjara Beach. Escape the urban bustle at Southcoast Adventure and Skogafoss. Get out of town with these interesting Vik side-trips: Hvolsvollur (Gluggafoss/Merkjarfoss & Seljalandsfoss Waterfall & Shop). There's much more to do: admire the sheer force of Seljalandsfoss, trot along with a tour on horseback, explore the striking landscape at Dyrholaey, and trek along Sólheimajökulll.
