A modern, bustling city known for its beer brewery, Sapporo attracts millions of visitors with its Snow Festival, during which elaborate ice and snow sculptures are exhibited all over town.
Your list of things to see and do now includes Asahi Breweries Hokkaido Brewery, Odori Park, Nijo Market, and other attractions. Kick off your visit on the 14th (Sun): contemplate in the serene atmosphere at Hokkaido Shrine Tongu, contemplate the long history of Clock Tower (Tokei-dai), then contemplate the long history of Former Hokkaido Government Office Building, then browse the different shops at Sapporo Esta, and finally get into the urban bustle at Sapporo Underground Pedestrian Space. On the next day, don't miss a visit to Sapporo Central Wholesale Market Jogai Market, enjoy breathtaking views from Sapporo JR Tower Observatory T38, take some stellar pictures from Sapporo TV Tower, then stroll around Maruyama Park, then walk around Odori Park, and finally sample the tasty concoctions at Asahi Breweries Hokkaido Brewery.

Sydney, Australia to Sapporo is an approximately 15-hour flight. Due to the time zone difference, you'll gain 1 hour traveling from Sydney to Sapporo. When traveling from Sydney in April, plan for much colder days in Sapporo, with highs around 9°C, while nights are slightly colder with lows around 7°C. You'll have a few hours on the 16th (Tue) to wrap things up before traveling to Otaru.

Your day-by-day itinerary now includes Former Otaru Warehouse, Music Box & Handicrafts Studio You-kobo, Otaru Canal, and other attractions you added. Drive from Sapporo to Otaru in an hour. Alternatively, you can take a train; or take a bus. In April, plan for daily highs up to 9°C, and evening lows to 7°C. You'll have a few hours on the 17th (Wed) to wrap things up before traveling to Noboribetsu.

Noboribetsu

Perhaps the island's best-known hot spring resort, Noboribetsu has a long history of tourism.
On the 17th (Wed), explore the striking landscape at Jigokudani, then take in the natural beauty of Oyunumagawa Natural Footbath, then get to know the resident critters at Noboribetsu Bear Park, and finally make a trip to Noboribetsu Date Historic Village.

Getting from Otaru to Noboribetsu by car takes about 2 hours. Other options: take a train; or do a combination of bus and train. Traveling from Otaru in April, you can expect nighttime temperatures to be little chillier in Noboribetsu, with lows of 3°C. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 18th (Thu) so you can go by car to Hakodate.
