The only city in the world to have hosted both summer and winter Olympics, the resort town of Karuizawa-machi boasts clean air, impressive mountain scenery, and many outdoor activities and hot springs.
Let the collections at Hiroshi Senju Museum Karuizawa and Gunma Natural Museum capture your imagination. Head to Yawataya Isogoro Honten and Karuizawa prince shopping plazafor some retail therapy. Explore Karuizawa-machi's surroundings by going to Tomioka (Myogi Shrine & Ichinomiya Nukisaki Shrine), Nagano (Matsushiro, Zenko-ji Temple, & more) and Onsen Resorts (in Naganohara-machi). On the 12th (Fri), spend an exhilarating day on the slopes at Karuizawa Prince Hotel Ski Resort. There's still lots to do: take in the dramatic scenery at Kaminaridaki Falls and make a trip to Usui Daisan Kyoryo Bridge.
