Stresa is a town and comune of about 5,000 residents on the shores of Lake Maggiore in the province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola in the Piedmont region of northern Italy, about 90km northwest of Milan. Change things up with these side-trips from Stresa: Tremezzina (Fleur de Lis & Villa Carlotta), i Giardini di Villa Melzi (in Bellagio) and Orta San Giulio (San Giulio Island & Lake Orta). There's lots more to do: get a taste of the local shopping with Palazzo Borromeo, contemplate the long history of Villa Fedora, admire the natural beauty at Botanical Gardens Of Villa Taranto, and stroll through Safari Park.

If you are flying in from Australia, the closest major airports are Malpensa International Airport, Milano Linate Airport and Il Caravaggio International Airport. May in Stresa sees daily highs of 25°C and lows of 11°C at night. Finish your sightseeing early on the 28th (Tue) to allow enough time to travel back home.
