The political capital of Martinique, Fort-de-France has a thriving commercial center and a number of historic sites.
Attractions like Scuba & Snorkeling and Zoo de Martinique - Habitation Latouche make great kid-friendly stops. Get out of town with these interesting Fort-de-France side-trips: Saint-Pierre (Centre de Decouverte des Sciences et de la Terre, Distillerie Depaz, & more), Les Anses d'Arlet (Dlo Ferre, Aux Couleurs Locales, & more) and Le Diamant (Diamond Rock, Klub Madi Vwel, & more). Spend the 30th (Tue) exploring nature at Parc Naturel Regional de la Martinique. There's still lots to do: get impressive views of Montagne Pelee, steep yourself in history at Habitation Clement, get engrossed in the history at La Savane des Esclaves, and paddle through the water with a kayaking and canoeing tour.

To find traveler tips, more things to do, reviews, and other tourist information, refer to the Fort-de-France planning website .

If you are flying in from Australia, the closest major airport is Martinique Aimé Césaire International Airport. In September, daytime highs in Fort-de-France are 37°C, while nighttime lows are 28°C. You will leave for home on the 28th (Wed).
