Sarlat-la-Caneda is the capital of the former Périgord Noir, now referred to as the Aquitaine region that is home to a historical area consisting of impeccably preserved 14th-century buildings and sites.
Start off your visit on the 11th (Fri): step into the grandiose world of Chateau de Castelnaud, then steep yourself in history at Chateau des Milandes, then look for gifts at Les Gourmandises de Lucco, and finally take in nature's colorful creations at Jardin Exotique. Get ready for a full day of sightseeing on the next day: browse the eclectic array of goods at Sarlat Market, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Cathedrale Saint-Sacerdosb, then look for all kinds of wild species at Reserve Naturelle du Marais de Grolejac, and finally view the masterpieces at Gorodka.
