Virtually unchanged for the last six centuries, Venice is actually a group of islands made famous by a series of canals, bridges, monuments, piazzas, and narrow pedestrian lanes.
Kick off your visit on the 22nd (Mon): explore the activities along Canal Grande, then see the interesting displays at Doge's Palace, then get to know the fascinating history of St. Mark's Square, and finally admire the striking features of Basilica di San Marco.

Bring the kids along to Palatine Hill and Trevi Fountain. Your inner history buff will appreciate Vatican Museums and Colosseum. There's still lots to do: contemplate the long history of St. Peter's Basilica, make a trip to Piazza Navona, admire the striking features of Pantheon, and explore the world behind art at Galleria Borghese.
